PermaLean Overview
PermaLean is our most durable and lean floor marking tape yet! At a total thickness of 570 microns (0.022″), PermaLean is the leanest self-adhesive, industrial-grade floor tape in the world. For comparison, PermaStripe measures 1300 microns (0.051″) and PermaRoute 960 microns (0.038″).
PermaLean offers a cost-effective way to implement durable floor tape in your facility, providing more options for different requirements and budgets. It’s designed to be extremely tough, making it ideal for high-traffic environments, while also delivering strong margins for resellers.
WHY PERMALEAN?
PermaLean allows you to create a cost-effective, lean floor marking system within your workplace. Use it to define lines, shapes, letters, and numbers in a range of colors to meet your facility’s needs and support 5S floor marking practices.
For solid colors, PermaLean is produced from a homogeneous 500-micron colored PVC film. For hazard chevron colors (black/yellow and red/white), the design is printed on a 250-micron base film, then laminated with a tough 250-micron clear top film. This ensures the hazard pattern remains protected and will never scratch off.
PERMALEAN SIZES & SHAPES
PermaLean is manufactured in 49.6″ (1260mm) master rolls, which can be cut down into widths ranging from 0.6” (15mm) up to 49.6” (1260mm).
Standard stocked roll sizes are 2” (50mm), 3” (75mm), and 4” (100mm) wide, supplied in 98ft (30m) lengths for immediate shipping.
A variety of die-cut floor marking shapes are also available and can be produced in any size up to the master roll width. Stock die-cut designs (H6905 PermaLean) can be produced quickly, while custom shapes can also be made to order (subject to minimum order quantities and tooling costs).
PERMALEAN 1-YEAR WARRANTY
Heskins provides a conditional 1-year warranty on PermaLean from the date of purchase. Warranty claims are limited to product replacement and do not cover damage caused by pallets, skids, or items dragged across the tape.

LEAN PermaLean – FAQ
What is PermaLean LEAN?
PermaLean LEAN is a cost-effective industrial floor marking tape designed for 5S, lean manufacturing, and workplace visual management. It is available as colored rolls, letters, numbers, and die-cut floor markers for identifying warehouse aisles, walkways, pallet locations, equipment areas, and operational zones.
When should I choose PermaLean?
Choose PermaLean when you need an economical floor marking system for a warehouse, factory, or production facility. At approximately 0.022 inches (0.57 mm) thick, its low-profile construction makes it particularly suitable for large 5S and factory floor marking projects where cost and material efficiency are important.
What is the difference between PermaLean, PermaStripe, and PermaRoute?
PermaLean is approximately 0.022 inches (0.57 mm) thick and provides a cost-effective option for lean floor marking. PermaRoute is approximately 0.038 inches (0.96 mm) thick and uses a laminated construction suited to detailed floor signage and printed designs. PermaStripe is approximately 0.051 inches (1.3 mm) thick and uses a heavier homogeneous construction for demanding industrial line marking.
Can PermaLean be used for 5S and lean floor marking?
Yes. PermaLean can support 5S floor marking by defining locations for materials, equipment, pallets, work cells, and pedestrian routes. Colored floor tape, arrows, letters, numbers, and shape markers can be combined to create a consistent visual management system throughout a warehouse or factory.
Can PermaLean mark warehouse aisles and pedestrian routes?
Yes. PermaLean can be used to create warehouse aisles, pedestrian walkways, vehicle routes, production zones, and other safety floor markings.
Different colors, arrows, and footprint markers can help distinguish routes as part of a site-specific traffic management and workplace organization system.
Can PermaLean be used to mark pallet and equipment locations?
Yes. L-shapes, T-shapes, X-shapes, dots, and line blocks can identify pallet positions, equipment areas, storage locations, and workstations.
Using individual floor markers instead of outlining every position with continuous floor tape can also reduce material usage, making PermaLean particularly useful for large warehouse floor marking projects.
What PermaLean floor marker shapes are available?
PermaLean is available as L-, T-, and X-shapes, dots, line blocks, arrows, footprints, shoes, boot prints, letters, and numbers. Corners, junctions, bridges, and end caps can also be combined with continuous floor tape to create clean warehouse routes and floor marking layouts.
Can PermaLean be used for warehouse location and wayfinding systems?
Yes. PermaLean letters, numbers, colored lines, and arrows can identify aisles, bays, storage areas, and destinations throughout a warehouse.
References such as A1, B12, or Zone 3 can complement an existing warehouse management or barcode system and help employees locate areas more efficiently.
What colors and sizes is PermaLean available in?
PermaLean is available in black, red, orange, yellow, green, dark blue, and white, along with red-and-white, black-and-white, and black-and-yellow hazard options.
Standard rolls are approximately 2 inches (50 mm), 3 inches (75 mm), and 4 inches (100 mm) wide, with a roll length of approximately 98 feet (30 meters). Custom widths from approximately 0.6 inches (15 mm) up to 49.6 inches (1,260 mm) can also be produced, subject to production requirements.
Can PermaLean be produced in custom shapes and sizes?
Yes. PermaLean can be produced in custom widths and die-cut into custom shapes for specific warehouse or factory layouts. This makes it suitable for unusual work cells, compact storage areas, or applications where standard floor tape dimensions are not appropriate.
Custom designs may be subject to minimum order quantities and tooling requirements.
How is PermaLean protected from wear?
Solid-color PermaLean is manufactured from homogeneous colored film, so the color runs through the material rather than being limited to a printed surface.
Printed hazard designs, such as black-and-yellow and red-and-white tape, use a clear protective laminate over the printed layer to help protect the pattern from everyday surface wear.
Is PermaLean better than floor paint for changing layouts?
PermaLean can be a practical alternative to floor paint when warehouse, production, or 5S layouts may change. Self-adhesive floor tape and markers can be installed without painting extensive lines, while individual sections can be replaced as work cells, storage areas, or routes change.
How durable is PermaLean?
PermaLean LEAN carries a conditional one-year warranty from the date of purchase. Its service life depends on floor preparation, traffic, and how the marked area is used.
Pallets, transit skids, and other heavy objects should not be dragged, pushed, or scraped across the tape, as this can damage the floor marking and is excluded from the warranty.
Can I request a PermaLean sample before ordering?
Yes. PermaLean samples are available so you can assess the color, thickness, finish, and suitability of the floor marking tape before placing a larger order. Sampling is particularly useful when planning an extensive 5S or warehouse floor marking project.
