ColorCover Overview
ColorCover provides a quick and cost-effective way to apply 5S custom signs in any workplace area. These color-coded, self-adhesive signs are designed for lean manufacturing environments where efficiency and flexibility are essential.
Benefits
With a standard inkjet or laser printer, you can create a custom sign in minutes- making it easy to update lean signage in areas that frequently change purpose.
ColorCovers are constructed from a single thick piece of homogeneous film with a clear window surrounded by a colored frame. These frames use 5S color standards for workplace optimization. The backing is coated with a strong adhesive that bonds securely to clean, dry surfaces yet can be removed without difficulty when changes are needed. The lightly embossed surface also prevents the sign from becoming a slip hazard when applied to floors.
ColorCovers let you create custom warehouse signs without minimum order quantities or expensive print costs. Simply print your sign on letter or half-letter size paper from any standard desktop printer, place it face down on the back of the ColorCover, remove the liner, and apply it to the desired surface. Once applied, ColorCover signs are ready for immediate use, requiring little to no downtime.
Apply ColorCovers to doors, walls, walkways, marking bays, and other areas where 5S signs improve safety, communication, and workflow efficiency.
Sizes
ColorCover custom signs are available in two sizes:
-
Large: 15.8” x 12.4” (401mm x 314mm)
-
Regular: 12.4” x 9.9” (314mm x 252mm)
Colors & Custom Options
The color-coded frames allow ColorCovers to be used as part of lean production workflows or to highlight hazards, restrictions, and key information. We also offer clear PermaCover custom signs as an alternative.
Custom ColorCovers can be produced in any color to match Pantone or RAL references. For these options, order quantities will need to be discussed with our sales team.

COV ColorCover – FAQ
What is ColorCover COV?
ColorCover COV is a color-coded, self-adhesive protector for creating customized workplace signs using a standard office printer. A printed insert sits beneath a clear window surrounded by a colored frame, creating durable floor, wall, or door signage for warehouses, factories, and other workplaces.
What is the difference between ColorCover and PermaCover?
Both products protect customized printed inserts, but ColorCover includes a colored border for 5S, safety color coding, and visual management. PermaCover uses a clear design where a colored frame is not required.
ColorCover is particularly useful when color helps identify a department, process, zone, or workplace function.
How do I create a custom sign using ColorCover?
Print the required text, symbol, or graphic using a standard inkjet or laser printer. Position the printed sheet beneath the clear window, remove the release film, and press ColorCover firmly onto a clean, dry surface.
No specialized printing equipment is required.
What types of workplace signs can I create with ColorCover?
ColorCover can be used for warehouse safety signs, aisle identifiers, directional signs, pallet-area labels, work-cell signs, equipment markers, and operational instructions.
The printed content and surrounding color can be adapted to match your warehouse organization, safety procedures, and visual management system.
How can ColorCover support 5S and lean manufacturing?
ColorCover can identify designated locations for tools, equipment, materials, cleaning supplies, waste, and work-in-progress. Its colored frame provides an additional visual cue for distinguishing workplace zones, processes, or functions.
This makes it particularly useful for 5S organization, lean manufacturing, and color-coded visual management.
What sizes and colors is ColorCover available in?
ColorCover COV is available in two sizes:
- Regular – approximately 12.4 × 9.9 inches (314 × 252 mm), designed for an A5 insert
- Large – approximately 15.8 × 12.4 inches (401 × 314 mm), designed for an A4 insert
Standard colors include black, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and white. Custom colors can also be produced to specified Pantone or RAL references, subject to production requirements.
Can ColorCover protect barcodes and QR codes?
Yes. Barcodes, QR codes, and warehouse location references can be printed and protected beneath ColorCover’s transparent window, making it useful for aisle identification, stock locations, and warehouse management systems.
Codes should be tested under the intended lighting, viewing angle, and scanning distance before producing multiple signs.
Can ColorCover signs be applied to floors, walls, and doors?
Yes. ColorCover can be applied to suitable floors, walls, and doors, allowing the same signage system to be used for floor marking, warehouse wayfinding, department identification, and storage locations.
The application surface should be clean, dry, and free from contamination before installation.
Does ColorCover have a textured surface?
Yes. ColorCover has a lightly embossed upper surface that provides additional texture when used as floor signage.
The product should still be positioned and used according to the site’s individual floor safety assessment, particularly where slip resistance is a specific requirement.
